New Year , New Blog

Happy New Year .....

It seems so long since I last blogged , and so so much has happened in my life since then (a meeting , an engagement , a move , another move , a wedding and soon another move)... because of that I have decided to restart my Blog ...... So over the next couple of weeks I will be changing the look of the Blog and updating it 

I have decided to make it more of a Diary instead of just a knitting "show and tell " ... for me and if anyones out there actually reading it , then also for you 

So not a New Blog just a new life for this one

Excited .....


I finally got my store on Folksy up and running !!
I had already set up the store and spent a day or two fiddling around with the Banner , setting up Paypal, knitting like crazy and taking pictures of the three guys I'm selling first on there ....... I know, I know I still haven't introduced you to them let alone told you how I made them , that will come too , just be patient with me a little

So today I actually put up the first of my items

First came a Lime Alien 

And then a Red Alien

Last but by no means least Lilac
two-headed Alien

I am pretty excited about it and wanted to share the news with some close friends and only sent the mails without the Link to Folksy !!! Duh ......

More and more Squares

Squares squares squares ....  Getting quite a stack of knitted squares ... I love the different colours .... Even the more pastel shades , which aren't really my kind of colour , but even they are looking good ...  Of course the blanket is a thing that may take a year or years to finish ... Im looking forward to adding to it bit by bit .... It will be interesting to see the varying shades in the end and it will remind me of other projects I have knitted

Squares squares squares . . . .

One day I went crazy and spent hours going from Blog to Blog looking for ideas for something to knit but also for ideas for my own Blog-in-Planning , well I came across a beautiful brightly coloured blanket http://cauchycomplete.wordpress.com/2011/02/25/scrappy-knitting/

Always looking for something to use up bits and bobs of wool I followed the links "completely cauchy" had posted to find the instructions ......

I found it a little hard to understand at first , until I realised that although she had told us to use a gauge of 15 stitches the instructions were actually for 31 stitches cast on (yes I felt like a complete div when I worked that one out )

Here are my version of the instructions ....

Pic1: Cast on 31 stitches and plain knit until the last stitch
 where you knit into the back of the loop
(this makes a tidier edge)

Pic2:Next row : slip the first stitch , knit 13 , then slip two
stitches, knit a stitch , then cast off the two slipped stitches over
this knitted stitch, knit to the last stitch and knit that one
 into the back of the loop

Pic3: Continue like this ... every row start by
 slipping the first stitch and every row knit the last
stitch in the back of the loop ....

First row is plain knit , second row is a double decrease as described , third row a plain knit row again , next row you knit 12 stitches before you slip the two stitches , fourth row plain knit , fifth you knit 11 stitches before the two slipped .... and so on until you have three stitches left and cast off completely

My plan is too knit lots and lots of squares in all sorts of colours and then afterwards arrange them and sew them together .... I'll keep you posted

My very first post on my new blog . . . .

So I have been thinking about having my own Blog for  awhile now ... well after reading lots of amazing ones and feeling a little intimidated by the quality of Craft Blogs out there here is mine ....

Mainly I will be babbling about my once-again found love knitting but also journalling about more daily subjects .....
